This project arose from an interest in both entomology and trading cards. The concept was to create a series of "trading cards" of actual insects native to the midwestern United States with their common and scientific names. They would function as collectible items that would appeal to children and a means to actually identify insects found in parks or backyards. I used simple illustrations to represent the insects while still including details necessary to correctly identify the species. The bright colors and shapes keep the cards fun and appealing on an aesthetic level as opposed to stiflingly formal.
